Why We’re Going to Atlanta
From its pivotal role in the civil rights movement to its emergence as a growing hub for clean energy and sustainability, Georgia is shaping the future in ways that align with WRISE's vision of a thriving, equitable and inclusive energy ecosystem.
By gathering in one of the most influential cities for progress, we recognize the power of collective action and continue the work of building an industry where all people can succeed. Atlanta is home to a rapidly growing clean energy sector, ranking among the top states for solar energy generation, battery storage expansion, and electric vehicle adoption. The city’s commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency reflects the momentum of the industry, and the potential for even greater impact in the years ahead.
The Importance of Community
At WRISE, we know that women have always been at the forefront of change: pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and leading the transition to a more sustainable and equitable energy future. The WRISE Leadership Forum is a space built by and for all women where we uplift, support, and champion one another.
As we gather in Atlanta for the 2025 Leadership Forum, we recognize that traveling, networking, and simply existing in certain spaces can come with unique challenges for many women. We are committed to making this event a safe, welcoming, and empowering experience for all.
Prioritizing Safe Travel
We know that navigating travel in today's political climate can be complex, and can be particularly scary for our trans and nonbinary community. Georgia has passed restrictive legislation and may consider additional restrictions in 2025. While Atlanta, GA is one of the largest LGBTQ+ cities in the United States, we want to reassure you that your safety and security is our priority. We will continue to monitor any travel advisories for the LGBTQ+ community and will update this section if new information becomes available. We have listed several resources below to assist you in making informed decisions around flying and travel safety:
- Stay Informed: Check the latest updates on travel safety for trans individuals through the Adult Trans Legislative Risk Assessment Map, maintained by journalist Erin Reed.
- Know Your Rights: If you’re flying, review the National Center for Transgender Equality "Know Your Rights: Airport Security" guide to understand TSA policies and prepare for screenings.
Creating a Welcoming and Empowering Event
WRISE is built on the belief that when women support women, we all rise. At the Leadership Forum, we’re committed to creating a space where all women (across race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and background) can thrive. We know that challenges exist, but we also know that change happens when we show up, speak out, and support one another. By attending the WRISE Leadership Forum, you are part of a collective movement to ensure that women—ALL women—have a place, a voice, and a future in renewable energy.
